Recycling Vape or E-Cig Batteries

The main part of your e cigarette is the battery, which can indeed be recycled. It’s important to ensure that any battery is disposed of responsibly to help protect the environment as all batteries contain hazardous chemicals.

Recycling methods will vary depending on whether you have a device with a built-in battery or with a removeable battery.

Recycling Vape Devices with Removeable Batteries

Simply remove the battery from the device, then take the battery to a battery recycling point. You can find your nearest drop-off locations on the Recycle Now website.

Some local authorities collect batteries along with other recycling waste. The above link will provide information on whether this is available in your area. In which case you can put them out with the rest of your recycling. However, if you have multiple batteries, make sure to keep them separate from each other as they can short against one another. You could do this by putting some tape over the ends of the battery or wrapping them in cling film.

Recycling Devices with Built-in Batteries

Built-in battery vape devices, such as the Vaporesso XROS 3 and Innokin Endura T18 II cannot be left at battery recycling points. This is due to the devices containing the circuit board and other electrical elements.

You can, however, recycle fixed-battery devices at specialist e-waste centres. Fortunately there are many of these located across the country.

You can find your nearest e-waste centre on the Recycle Now website. When searching for your nearest centre you may need to look for one that takes laptops or mobile devices as there is not currently a search option for e-cigarette or vaping equipment.

Recycling Pods and E-Cigarette Refills Cartomizers,  Clearomizers & Vape Tanks

To dispose of e cigarette refills, we recommend rinsing them thoroughly to remove any e liquid residue before throwing them away. We recommend rinsing them as, if they end up in landfill, nicotine and other ingredients may leak out and cause harm to the environment.

If you are really committed, you can take the refill apart and separate the components to put them in their respective recycling bins.

Recycling E-Liquid Bottles

All e liquid bottles are required to be made from plastic as part of the EU TPD e cigarette regulations brought in in May 2017.

Plastic products should display a symbol showing the type of plastic they are made from. You can use this to identify which type of plastic your e liquid bottle is made from. Give your old, empty bottles a good clean then recycle them as appropriate.

Please Consider Our Environment & Recycle!

Without recycling, electrical equipment ends up in landfill. Hazardous substances can leak out and cause soil and water contamination, harming wildlife and human health.

We urge you to recycle your VAPELLA products and dispose of them responsibly.
